We just renewed our lease, and the rent increase was the smallest one we've had over the past 5 years here. It was around $60/month for a 3-bedroom (hard to find here). Previous increases have varied but the highest has been close to $200/month increase. But still more affordable than other places in this same area and it was important to us to stay in the school zone.

In 1986 I rented a nice apartment on Roy St. on west Capitol Hill with a view of the city, space needle, and Olympics for $475 a month. I thought it was a bit high for the time!

Oh! I can relate to that so well... I rented the cutest one bedroom right on Alki Avenue in 1986. Could hear the waves lapping at night. It was wonderful but I thought it was "over-priced" at $475/month as well! Those were the days!
