I don't think that's true. If it's tasty and good quality "fast" food, I think they like it just fine. Lots of foods that weren't normally thought of as fast food are quite fast these days: taco trucks, all kinds of things. I'll take a taco truck 3 tacos with salsa verde for $5 any day over a McD's.

I was wondering if anyone else was gonna disagree with the comment about Hipsters being too cool for fast food. I mean, isn't Britney Spears hip? Anymore? And she digs Taco Bell, right?

Food trucks have been around for awhile, but they are becoming more popular, for sure. Here in E. WA they have been common place for awhile. Only downside is you either eat at their outdoor tables (which sometimes are not very comfortable), or in your car, or take it home. Usually the food is authentic and tasty...a good alternative to the drive-thru.

I saw a cartoon about hipsters and “avocado toast” so I looked it up. Apparently it is very popular with the tech bro types. Much as I love avocados I’ve never seen or heard of it on toast before, but then I try to stay away from the mess that is S Lake Union.

Avocado toast, used to make it in my bachelor days last year. Just 1 small avocado ( bag of many) from Grocery Outlet is enough for 2 sandwiches. Add butter to toast before spreading the premashed avocado. Salt, pepper, onion and garlic to taste.

Avocado toast is old.

We need some new traditional places. Whatta Burger is Dallas, Texas makes the best fast food burger I ever had!! Even an In & Out would be cool.

Really? As I get older I don't much care for In 'n Out anymore, though I liked it when I was in my 20's and 30's. I was in Texas a few years ago and couldn't stand "Whatta Burger". Just awful, IMO. But I know the chain is successful, so it probably is just me. Or perhaps as one gets older those greasy burgers just don't seem as appetizing. On the other hand I love Dick's Hamburgers in Seattle, as I have made clear earlier in this thread. We all have different tastes, and I think size does matter here. I much prefer a smaller burger (like Dick's in Seattle), as opposed to a monstrosity like you get with In 'n Out or Whatta Burger.

Same. I was actually never crazy about In & Out. But whatta burger seemed to have quality meat, and good size. I do like greasy burgers though. Its actually how I judge a diner or cafe, by the cheeseburger platter. If its dry and overly cooked then the place needs work. If its juicy and looks like real meat with grease rolling down your fingers then its a keeper!!

But the Seattle area, the East side especially, needs to get real pizza parlors!! We need real pizza!!

Last time I ate at Dicks I damn near puked my brains out. Disgusting. Tiny hockey puck like, chewy like rubber, greasy horsemeat.

I wouldn't go by the reviews of Washingtonians on food. They think dicks has great hamburgers, that Alfys has great pizza, and that subway has great sandwiches.
