Language isn't fixed. Rules change. If enough of a demographic find a changes acceptable, the change will be accepted.

The word "twelve" is already plural. You therefore cannot append an 's' to it to make it 'extra plural.'

Growing up in the hood, I had a friend who used to make references to 'breasteses,' on attractive females, and another dear friend who referred to certain sandwiches as being 'dipped-ted.' It was execrable English, but at least they had an excuse: they came up through the Chicago public schools. What's your excuse, Seahawks fans?

If it sounds dumb they learnt it in the Chicago school system. Mrs. elkotronics attended Chicago Public Schools and vouches for the fact that they are umm...a little slow.

"You'll have to excuse my friend...he's a little slow." ~ Jim Carrey in 'Dumb and Dumber' referring to his friend, Harry Dunne

OK so, if you, ABQ, are getting snockered in a bar after the game, and there is a group of defensive Seahawks players, and another group of offensive Seahawks players, together they are "Seahawkses." Add a third group from the 'special teams' and it becomes 'Seahawkseses."

Absolutely proper English, right?

I'm not saying that I'm enamored with the word "twelves" but your breakdown is quite correct.

Again, Travis: apples and oranges.

I taught grammar for about 16 years.

Since you're interested in this topic (apparently) try reading Stephen Pinker.

travis t is right about the above, that's horrible English and it's wrong on at least one level. Plural Seahawk becomes Seahawks. Even with the offense, the defense and special teams being added together. They're collectively Seahawks. Now, they're not Seahawk's though, eh? There's no need for the apostrophe between the 'k' and the 's' in Seahawks.
