A recent study has confirmed what residents have known for years: Seattle is best Coffee City in America.

But now there is at least some mathematical evidence to go along with conventional wisdom...
With National Coffee Day right around the corner, WalletHub decided to compare the 100 largest cities in America across 14 key indicators of strong coffee culture.

But which city is the best doughnut city? That's the important question!

Portland would claim that, but I am still searching for the BEST donuts (I don't do coffee = 2x as many donuts)

after millions of donuts... 50 yrs later I'm still at At High School weight, but can't get back to HS W-I-D-T-H (22"waist) (Were we really bean poles?)

My FT job had FREE doughnuts, night shift factory workers got all the left-overs. Boxes and boxes of them every night. for 40 yrs
HS Girlfriend worked at Daylight Donuts..(shop began in 1954, consumed way too many donuts there, several times / day... ). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_Donuts Now living on Borrowed Time...

BEST doughnuts?

Flying out of Portland every week, it is good that SWA has free bags, cuz the overhead is full of VooDoo and BlueStar (current champion) Donuts (Doughnuts).

Portland is 'Beer and.... Donuts" (mellow bunch, not too small)

"Seattle is Coffee" and all things associated with Coffee (more hyper / purposed , jittery)

I can drink whatever kind of coffee. For me it's not the best coffee as much as the best coffeehouse city in America.

College towns generally reign in this category. I was disappointed when I first arrived in Seattle, because I was expecting "college town" culture around UW, but it's fart too urban. UW/UVillage is too commercialized to be quaint. You have to go to Ballard/Wallingford/Greenlake to find it. And then downtown ends up feeling like dense urban, like Chicago or NYC.

I'm comparing Seattle to Austin and Madison. I loved both their coffee scenes, but admittedly, I was in different era of my life when I experienced them. Could very well be that I wouldn't enjoy my old haunts nearly as much at 40 as I did at 20. In fact, I'm almost sure of it.

You mean like Krispy Kreme? Those are so nasty!

But Dunkin Donuts is the scent of childhood.

I'm not sure I've ever met a donut I didn't like. Krispy Kreme yeast donuts melt in your mouth. But...a year or so ago, we were driving through Utah and met up with Dunford Donuts. When it comes to a chocolate-covered cake donut, I think Dunford is fantastic!

Try Legendary Donuts in Issaquah. Generally I like Top Pot the best, but Legendary has the more unusual, interesting, and humongous donuts.

As for coffee, our favorite by far is Dutch Bros., and they are not in Seattle. The nearest are in Everett, Renton or Fife so we only get to drink it when passing by one of those or on a roadtrip down I5 into Oregon and/or California.
