I would also vote Everett. Commute to Seattle sucks timewise but it is well served. They have nice, older homes and a functioning, reasonably attractive downtown. There's minor league baseball, minor league hockey, and it is close to the water. If I wanted to purchase another property in Puget Sound on this side of the water, Everett would be it.
