We are moving to Bellevue this summer and looking to rent a house in a good school area. Any recommendations on a good public elementary and middle schools in Bellevue? Tried asking couple of people outside ‘city-data’ and all had these generic ‘Any school in Bellevue is good’ answers. I am really hoping for specific recommendations. My older one is a bright kid currently in a private school here in Midwest and I want her to be able to attend a highly recommended public school. She is in elementary until next year and then starts middle school. Younger one will start elementary next year.

I have friends whose children attended the International School, which is a choice lottery school in the Bellevue School District for grades 6-12. The education they received was excellent. But if you're interested in that school for next year, the application period closes January 31st.

I know you asked about public schools, but there is an excellent private school for girls in Bellevue called Forest Ridge. It serves grades 5-12. As a girl, I attended a sister school to Forest Ridge in California, where I received an outstanding education.

Some of the most "affordable" areas of Bellevue with highly rated schools are South Bellevue-Newport Hills and East Bellevue-Lake Hills.

Thank you @josie13 and @homesinseattle.

About choice schools, unfortunately we can only apply there if we are currently living in the area. Since we are not, we can only try for choice schools next year. Hence looking for a really good public school. Not planning on private schools at the moment

Odle and Tyee middle schools are home to the advanced learning program. If your child tests into the program, they will be accelerated by at least one grade level. It’s a rigorous program with more homework. All of the Bellevue schools offer the same curriculum for the standard grade level. The variation in school scores seems to map to demographics (income level and race).
