Try a different destination in the LA area, if you want to stick w/Alaska. Ontario used to be cheaper. IDK if it still is, but it's worth doing a comparison.

Tues flights, advance purchase are $69 .

Fri @ 374
Sat @200
Sun @ 119

BUR-SEA

If you can be more flexible on ALK, then you can save a bunch of money. You probably already know this.
A lot of Seattle people have homes in CA and commute. I imagine they can afford the demand pricing schedule.

The posted Alaska fares meet SWA prices...
But it's the SWA Companion status that makes you have to evaluate total cost of each trip.

We (2) did over 15 SWA flts to BUR alone last yr (at buy one, get one free), IIRC we had a few that were direct on weekends. But the $89 flts to Hawaii (Buy one, get one free) were too good to let pass by.

When SWA offers "Inner CA" for $29, I will fly to OAK and do (10) flts / day between BUR and OAK to qualify for my next 2 yr Companion Pass). Great deal -100's of free flights / yr for my companion(s). ... not quite as nice as Alaska passage, but usually plenty 'friendly'.

SWA probably has a lot of dis-satisfied Seattle Freeze passengers. "Don't talk to me!!! can't you tell I'm from Seattle?" Oh yes... A special 'Class' Pardon me

One other thing to mention here, (and was alluded to above), is some passengers want to fly directly into Burbank due to being close to where they need to do business or where they need to visit generally. Those passengers are probably willing to pay a bit more to be close to their destination, let alone, the layover on SW.

It is important to remember the advantages of having a large hub at Sea-Tac for Alaska. They fly to more destinations than any other airline. Delta has made a run at them the past half decade-plus, but Alaska still commands Sea-Tac.

Alaska airs advance purchase price from seattle to burbank is $250 oneway which is $500 roundtrip.

Southwest airlines advance purchase price from seattle to burbank is $80 to $100 oneway for $160 to $200 roundtrip.

. . .

Why is Alaska airlines still in business with the rip off prices they charge??

Then the accusation with which you began the thread (". . . they are a rip off!") is pretty unfair.

If you can be flexible regarding airports, dates, and times, you can get a good price on Alaska. (I also fly Southwest and appreciate their prices and baggage policy, but to the Los Angeles area I fly Alaska.)
