Hi,

If you have no commuting problem, if you have no financial problems, and if you have to choose the school just based on academics, training and quality of education, which one would you choose and why?

2 kids: 9 years and 3 years.

All help is appreciated.

Although Lake Washington schools are objectively excellent, I’d have to choose Bellevue. It’s hard to argue with 3 high schools rated in the top 10 in the state. https://patch.com/washington/bellevu...ngton-u-s-news

School ratings at that level are pointless. It's all about parental socioeconomic status and how much emphasis parents give on education, or even how much private tutoring the kids get.

Sure, if more than 10% of students have behavior problems etc, that can be disruptive to everybody, but when you are talking about Bellevue or Lake Washington school districts, you're really just splitting hairs.

Completely agree with this, and my kids are in one of those top 10 schools. In addition to the first paragraph Guineas mentioned, I'd also add that it also depends on where the gifted programs are located and the level of resources generally put into the schools. Once your get into one of the "highly rated schools," it can also depend on the individual teachers and the fit with your children. Things can also vary within schools within districts.

I'd go with either district, and go for the one that does make commute and housing costs fit within your needs.
