Sanders was never my first choice but I don't fear him either. His policies recall the democratic socialist policies dominant during the mid 20th century (~1930s - 1980's) that actually made America great — high top tax rates funding major investments in public education, scientific research, supportive social welfare programs, and infrastructure. Those policies literally created the great American middle class and powered widespread prosperity and innovation. Ironically many of the same people decrying those policies simultaneously pine for that democratic socialist era the most. Should Sanders win the nomination, I will vote for him without hesitation.

Biden appeals to a broad coalition of voters including myself - a former Texas Republican now Democrat (these are the same thing nowadays) who are repulsed by the grotesque far-right Re-trump-lican Party of today but also put off by the (much much smaller) Democratic Party far-left faction of Sawant types.

(That said, I'm impressed like heck by AOC who is whip smart and exquisitely forceful in her arguments without promoting and trafficking in bile like trump and Sawant. AOC is a good fit representing her more progressive district in the Democratic Party, but the wider US is not ready. At least not yet.)
Wow. I've got to hand it to you; you got me to see The Burn in a different light. I just wish he weren't so air-headed about his "Socialism" schtick! And if people think the Repubs in Congress road-blocked Obama just because he was Black, what do you think they'll do to Burnie?

Why couldn't the Dems do any better than this? They were basically handed an election on a silver platter, and they're floundering. They had a potential home run, but they just couldn't pull it off. That's beyond sad.

Democrats have to deal with flyover country and flyover country is not much fun. They don't like the unfamiliar, they resent the "coastal elites" and Trump plays right into their fears. They are ripe for a snake oil salesman that will use childish names, hug a flag and act like an insult comic to our allies. Biden has been around so long that he's a known that flyover country was willing to support in spite of the Trump campaign's crazy accusations.

We have to manage this for a while until this older generation has less impact. They saw Trump on reality TV for years and it didn't matter what Trump was recorded saying, penalized in courts for doing or proudly declared right in front of them, they like the familiar. So it's not what Democrats "failed" to do. Flyover country supported Obama, then elected the guy that called Obama an African witch doctor Muslim. There's no going back for them now, this is who they are. The farmers are on tariff welfare, the coal miners have the government funding their private pensions and Trump dollars are being sprinkled over the country like confetti.

The next Democratic president will then be held to the old standard of fiscal responsibility with out a hint of irony from the GOP because they know their supporters won't see it.

Seattle didn't support Trump in 2016 and Trump won't do much better here in the next election.

^^

As for mayors endorsing any potus candidate, what's the point?

None, really.

Perhaps there are people so dumb it would take any endorsement from anyone to pull a lever.

IMO, it's arrogant. Be they mayors, former politicians, celebrities, athletes or whom ever.

Politicians 'endorsing' other 'politicians',. Yuk, that is slime on slime (double slick).
An informed and educated electorate would be a refreshing and effective change. No campaigning allowed for incumbents or previous politicians. They have a record.... Publish it ! (If voters would read instead of passively sitting on their heinie, waiting to be entertained by everything except the truth.)

Yes to an informed and educated electorate, but I must disagree with cynical disdain toward all politicians.

There ARE people who are community and public service minded, who are effective organizers and leaders, who work well with others to get stuff done. We need those people. Biden is one of those people. He has the bona fides.

@thatguy - Two Scoops is a reference to dried up, shriveled fruit. Perhaps you are too young to get that reference.

Interesting result, looks like Repub continued efforts to limit voting access may have back backfired on them. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/13/u...y-results.html

That went out the window when Trump supporters called Hillary cankles, attacked her weight, pantsuits, makeup, weight and even Trump said he was not impressed by her backside. Can’t have it both ways.
