I’m scheduled for a biopsy on Wednesday, March 25 at the UW Women’s Health Care Center on Roosevelt Way in Seattle. The appointment was made on February 25, because where I live, there are few gynecologists and they are booked out months in advance, and my family practice physician was unable to do this procedure.

Of course I will call the UW Clinic closer to my appointment time...my only communication with them so far has been the initial phone call for the appointment, and the New Patient Intake Form sent via the mail.

I wasn’t concerned, but just today, I had an afternoon appointment with my local family practice doctor, (unrelated to the above situation). This appointment was scheduled one month ago, and the office called just this morning to cancel it. The reason I was given for the cancellation was that they were overwhelmed with flu and pneumonia patients. I can’t get another appointment until April 24. This is rural medicine, and it’s gotten much worse in the past 2-3 years.

This made me wonder about what is happening in Seattle. I’ve been to a specialist, or taken others to specialists in Seattle, and it’s a long trip, involving driving to the ferry, taking the ferry, finding the Dr. office in a city I’m not familiar with, and then reverse the process to get home. It always worked out, but it’s a long day. And, of course, now there is the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anyway, is anyone familiar with the UW Women’s Clinic and if they have been able to keep on schedule, given the current health crisis? Is this clinic located on the UW campus? Yes, I will research how to get there, but thought someone might now, I’m feeling a little shaken.

Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

You need to call the office tomorrow and find out. Nobody here can tell you what you need to know.

Also, if you have no useful information, why did you answer? Are you bored with your life? Do you feel better about yourself now?

I have read your posts. Karma exists, believe it.

I don't know if the women's clinic is in the same building, but have you seen this? https://www.washington.edu/coronavir...-commons-east/
I've seen somewhere that UW facilities were possibly postponing all non-urgent care. I think calling is a good idea. They might be in "wait and see" mode and canceling/postponing appts at the last minute.

The facilities on Roosevelt (I've been in at least one of them, but I'm not sure if they are all housed in the same building) are considered part of campus, but are several blocks west of the main campus.

My wife had an appointment yesterday, follow-up, and they called to say it would be by telephone at the same time, not to go in. The doctor never did call, however. I have one tomorrow morning, it will be interesting to see if they cancel it. These were not in Seattle, but Swedish Issaquah.

?

I thought about sharing my experiences with both Virginia Mason (still okay) and Swedish Issaquah (moving appointment to over the phone) and then our dentist (cancelled), but realized given the diversity of responses we've been having that nothing I could share would be able to satisfy your inquiry like calling for yourself. Which I assume you have...

Our dentist sent an email, closed up except for emergencies. My wife just got a call confirming her appointment this afternoon.

We picked up glasses a couple of days ago and they were canceling all eye appointments for the next two weeks at least.

Thanks for all answers. I’m scheduled for a complicated biopsy, hence my concern. Also, my companion has COPD and and we’re both high risk for age.
