Why would people vote for this??? What about people who can’t afford this garbage tax? Do liberal elitists in Seattle really give a hoot about the less fortunate??? This area is a complete, and utter rip off. Thanks for making the lives of the less fortunate a living financial hell. Outrageous rents, gas prices, food costs, tribal casinos bilking millions, and now a pathetic RTA excise tax on car tabs. There’s only one great view in WA state: Seeing it through the rear view mirror.

Hey Folk, where are you going to be headed when you leave Seattle?

I am 99.999 certain I am headed to El Paso-Las Cruces region when hit retirement.

Recently laid off, forced office closure by Gov Inslee until May 18 and thereafter indefinitely because of COVID. No income. Burdened with student loans and ever increasing cost of living. $420 for car tab renewal for a 7 year old car that is realistically worth $10k at most? Homelessness and crime without consequences visible everywhere. Not sure how much more I can take.

Folky has already left and returned, lived time in S Carolina, Colorado, and maybe Boise(?).
Given his hatred of Seattle no idea why he's back.

El Paso/Las Cruces is nice and was on my list, bought in Rio Rico AZ, about 50 miles south of Tucson, and that'll be where I retire.

Hey, 87112, how long till you're retired? I've lived here in Alamo twice now and we're gonna stay here probably for good. Although I'm tempted to move to Panama or Belize or Mexico (believe it or not Mexico has lots and lots of expats who are very happy they're there) or Malta or Uruguay. If you have extra time ta look up 'Americans retiring' in the places I've mentioned look 'em up. You'll be surprised how easy Panama is to retire in - they use the English language and they are offering expats oodles and skaboodles of discounts on dining, rent, shopping, etc. Plus they're not making the visa difficult to obtain.

Those that choose this route still follow through with applying for your Medicare, SS, pension, etc., like you would if your were to remain in America. A lot of these countries ask a minimum amount you must make.

Also not sure why casinos are part of the complaint, that is a completely optional activity.

I have 12 years till early retirement, not sure if I can collect my pension at that age, probably not. One thing I am certain of, I will NEVER live my old age anywhere near cold weather.

Although cold weather places often have beautiful snow-capped peaks and rivers and lakes abundant, they're...cold! I agree, head south.
