In high school I had one teacher for two classes. He used to sit on a stool in front of the class to lecture. It was one of those that could be adjusted up or down with a threaded knob to tighten it at the height you wanted. So one day we got into the room before him, and I had one of my buddies watch for him while I adjusted the knob so that the seat was just barely staying at that level.
As planned, my trick worked like a charm. He came in, sat down and "whoosh"

the seat dropped 6". Being honest I admitted my guilt when he demanded to know the perpetrator. Fortunately my only punishment was that every day after that when he came in (both classes) I had to check his seat to make sure the knob was tight.

Respect to that teacher. Punishment befitting the prank.

Not a regular poster here but find this thread a nice idea. Thank you homesinseattle!

So, I will share a crime on which the statue of limitations has expired (50 some years), not to mention that it was in India and I am unlikely to be extradited for it

At fairly young age (grade 3?), a neighbor of ours had planted some spring onions in her garden. For a reason I cannot remember, I pulled them out and hid them behind a door in our house. It turns out the neighbor lady mentioned this strange event to my mother, who told her she was puzzled by some onion plants she found behind my door and was wondering what they were doing there. So, the neighbor auntie calls me, doesn’t tell me that she knows the truth (entrapment right there!) and just tells me about the theft of plants and asks for my help to identify the thief. I try very hard but cannot think of anyone I would suspect. Then she tells me that she was watching the thief from the window and knows who the thief was. I, of course, fall for it and confess easily and ask for her forgiveness. My mother and auntie then decide that I would help the neighbor auntie with her gardening all summer (child labor!).

Brings embarrassment and smile (on how sensitively the neighbor auntie handled it) to this day as I write it!

PS: I have 50-year-lag rule for such confessions, so you will have to wait a bit for the recent adventures
