The people, kids that are being killed in CHOP are black. I thought BLM was for black lives or is it only certain black lives. They need to end this. Armed citizens shooting when they feel they want to has ended badly. Did these people go thru training..obviously not because they shot 2 young boys, one is dead one is in critical condition.

Someone on this forum called them "outsiders". Black "outsiders" don't matter, even if they are simply from other areas of the city

I was a bit relieved that the COVID-19 spread appears to be minimal from the protests. Most of the protesters are young, wore masks, and held the protests outdoors. That combination appears to have lowered the risk of so many people being in such close proximity. Still, one couldn't help being a bit concerned. I thought the mayor and police did a good job of keeping casualties to a minimum. It wasn't perfect, of course, which is tragic. But yes it could have been a lot worse.

You allow a "protest zone" to develop, compared to the geographically widespread problems, now you just have (mostly) one area to look after. You mess up by leaving the police station. I would have kept police there but kept their vibe friendly, have them pass out lollipops . So, not a good idea to vacate the station.

But, it happened. After you lick your wounds, you realize (despite the skewed Fox News press) that this "zone" really is mostly peaceful. You figure you'll let it be for a few weeks, establish dialogue with the people inside, make a few reasonable concessions and then let time be your friend. So, here we are a few weeks later, things seem to be winding down. Was the progression of events ideal? Far from it. Maybe, just maybe though, it is working out better than it could have with a bare knuckles police response.

Yes, of course. Mostly peaceful. Just a few armed guys, just a few people shot, just a couple killed. Really, comparing to what is going on in (fill blank), it's nothing to worry about. Child play.

Thing is, THERE, it also started same way. Just a few peaceful protests. Just a few people shot. And so on.

Oh, but America is immune to all this, right? Right....
Well, here's summary to peaceful "summer of love", according to Durkin. Please, be fair and listen or read through ALL of it, particularly, section about "elected officials" encouraging what happened.

I find it terribly tragic that these killings were "acceptable" in Seattle. How can people possibly believe that the killing of these young people is just the price one pay's for living here.

Unbelievable.
