Momentum perhaps, good idea to send SDOT instead of police. Link here. https://q13fox.com/2020/06/26/sdot-s...te-barricades/

"Crews arrived with heavy equipment arrived early Friday at Seattle’s “occupied” protest zone, apparently ready to dismantle barriers set up by demonstrators, but halted work when demonstrators resisted, including by lying on top of some of the makeshift structures.

Stefanie Formas, spokeswoman for Mayor Jenny Durkan, said goal is to improve access for neighborhood residents. She said city officials would discuss the plans later Friday morning with protest organizers.

The SDOT workers arrived around 6:00 a.m. Friday with trucks and heavy machinery. An hour later no work had started, but workers were staging on 12th Ave. at the edges of the protest. But by 8:00 a.m., SDOT crews and the few police officers at the scene appeared to leave the area".

Two threads with the word CHOP in their titles in the last 5 threads and now this third one. Is it really necessary to start new threads on the same subject so soon?

Sure. This is different than the others and potentially, hopefully, good news.

I’m glad that none of the SDOT worker were injured in this beyond stupid attempt to dismantle the CHAZ/CHOP. Hopefully, the SDOT Union will step in since the mayor put these workers lives in danger... WITHOUT the full protection of the SPD, in force. I’m sure they had two or three cops a few blocks away, but that’s no help at all when you are being stabbed to death or shot by some mentally ill or doped up Chazastani/Chopastani Border Guard... Acting under the legal authority of President/Warlord “RAZ.”

CHAZ/CHOP isn’t going to peacefully fade away and the mayor is a fool to even think that this is a possibly, cuz even in her polluted mind that’s filled with rainbows, lollipops, unicorns and fairy dust, she had to know that this wasn’t going to work... Cuz the real world, “sheet” doesn’t work like that. BUT, now she can say I did try!! And many in Seattle will buy that line of BS.

I’m sorry, but there is only two ways to end the CHAZ/CHOP. First, Take responsibility, publicly and FULLY OWN the decision to send in the police with tear gas, pepper spray, batons and shields to remove/arrest individuals who failed to observe the law... Which I didn’t know was an optional thing in Seattle.

Or second, send in the Army National Guard with heavy equipment to forcefully push them out... Into the arms of the police.

The second option is the worst option, IMHO, but if George Soros and other radicals with money send in more financial support and these idiots start to really “fortify” the CHAZ/CHOP with bags of concrete, bricks and break into the stores/building to build “strongpoints,” like in some video game that they played before, the Army Guard will have to this task since the police are not trained in urban warfare... Yes, the CHAZ/CHOP is only 6-7 city blocks, but these radicals can do some serious damage before fleeing the area.

Hopefully, the mayor can borrow a set of ballz/stones or whatever and charge all the people who fail to peacefully depart with a crime... At least charge them with a felony of property destruction, rioting, resisting the lawful orders of the police, resisting arrest and a hundred other crimes... To include the all powerful AND catch all “conspiracy” to any of the above listed criminal violations.... Play stupid games and win stupid prizes.

“Sheet” like this will get Trump re-elected cuz at the end of the day, most reasonable working Americans know that we need law and order for our society to function. Yes, Washington State will go blue, no doubt, but Seattle is sending the rest of the country a near future vision of the new America filled with hundreds or thousands of CHAPs/CHOPs.

There is little doubt with the generations involved with this, having been brought up on Socialist leaning school processes, that the days of this country are numbered. In some ways I suppose I'm actually glad I'm of an age I recall how it "used" to be which frankly was one heck of a lot better than today. One thing for sure it isn't "better". The new outlook is a road to destruction no question about it. With Trump in place all we've had is a small pause from it.........but it's headed our way. I know of quite a few folks that are armed and trained and ready for it when it comes to their areas. They aren't going to sit back and let it all happen. Maybe the major cities will encourage or tolerate it, but that's about it. Let them take them over as it looks like Seattle is the model for that .

It's time to move the homeless to somewhere else.

Absolutely agree. No civilized city in Europe or Asia has that many junkies on their streets but it's somehow tolerated in the large US cities.

I believe the word you're looking for here is either 'weak' or 'ineffective.'

It's about 10 years too late for that.

This wouldn't have happened if Seattle's leadership had gotten on top of this while it was actually manageable. But so many Seattleites want to show compassion and will vilify anyone who speaks out as a jack-booted thug.

Rather than getting on top of this stuff, Seattle's leaders outlaw plastic straws while passing out free needles. SPD hasn't arrested anyone for anything other than serious violence, and even then they find ways to let criminals go. Everyone has heard the same stories a million times.

Many people predicted this and it's finally come. I see no end without a forceful take-over by authorities with casualties on both sides.

No, at least Berlin is still worse. I spent nearly a week there a couple years back... yuck. Some guy took a dump right in front of me and left it there. I had never actually seen someone do that. And everyone around him just kind of shrugged the way we do about our homeless. We were near Alexanderplatz. Also the graffiti is bad and it just came off as grunge-y paradise. I'm not talking about the section of the Berlin Wall, but just in general. Some people love that sort of thing. Young people think it's cool. Maybe I'm getting too old to appreciate "street art"...
