The virus doesn't sit quietly and keep to itself, if a protester caught the virus than he's taking that to his home, friends, family, community, and (maybe, just maybe), his workplace.

This is the type of intellectual dishonesty that should lead everyone to question all of the leftist policy line items. They were just saying that the business owners in the Midwest peacefully protesting in small numbers were murdering grandma yet when rioters pillage and burn down large swaths of cities in massive numbers they aren’t spreading the virus? It makes no sense.

Yep. Or maybe the fires kill the virus? Where’s the compassion for the business owners affected by this?

No one should need a research project to determine this, nor should any of you need "proof" to "know" it's true.

EVERY single protester is ALSO doing "regular" things. But not all the "regular" people are protesting. The proportion is probably 10 to 1, maybe 100 to 1, 1000 to one some places.

Of all the protesters - if they weren't protesting - are 100% of them socially isolating and wearing masks? Of course not. They were and are living life, just as before. Is there MORE spread now among the crowds? Probably. Is there less in the bars they and shops and restaurants they forced to close in the protest? Clearly.

So - on balance - no one should have expected a significant surge. No one should need these articles to "know" it.

On the other hand - when the other 150 million Americans take to bars and shopping and restaurants...should we expect to see a surge? You betcha. And are we? Um, yep.

Just about all of this is totally predictable. Easy to fix. Avoid other people when possible. It's that simple.

Since the start of Co-Vid19 human beings have been working hard to apply rational thought to this pandemic. So far the scorecard..pandemic (a lot) humans (few and far between).

The RNA virus is mutable. It survives by moment to moment changes. More hosts (people) more change. We are trying to be rational and informed and that simply is problematic. Do we reopen schools in Fall...most people say it's relatively safe however if your child has a life threatening inflammatory response syndrome do you take the risk?

The vaccine from Astra Zeneca and Moderna are promised by early Winter. That will be the definitive treatment and the end....until the next time.

My vote? Open it up. Morally equivocal and absolutely necessary.

So there was an increase?

I'm pretty sure if any news network runs a story saying BLM protests are irresponsible and contributing to the spread of COVID, they would be canceled. Running a story saying that it didn't contribute? $$$ profit

You have to ignore a hell of a lot of people in the rest of the world to come to that conclusion.
