I’m not overly familiar with the Phinney ridge area but there do appear to be some properties for sale there. We are a couple, late 30s into 40s, no kids nor any intent for kids, and currently live in the city. Given the state of the city, and not really any livelihood, we have been tying with a purchase a little further out with some more space (current is a 1/1.5 and looking for a 2/2). The question really is about the Phinney ridge area itself. I don’t seem to find a ton of info in the forum on it so I’m curious if folks have any suggestions of where to find more data/info? Any personal experiences in the forum about it?

For reference, my office is in slu so a commute for me was a simple 5 minute walk. My SO’s commute was a walk to the westlake light rail stop, get off on the ID stop and get picked up by her company bus (all in ~40 minutes).

Nice, quiet area, with many shops and restaurants within walking distance, and the zoo. Just try to stay a few blocks away from Aurora Ave/99 to avoid the traffic noise. I have family living just outside P.R. and two friends living within it, and all have been happy there.

Flows into Upper Fremont to the south and south Greenwood to the north. Main bus lines are #5 and E-Line, which connect to #44 (45th) and #45 (85th).

I'm in Greenwood. Phinney is a great area too, and I would guess the reason you don't hear more about it is that there isn't quite as much of a commercial/nightlife presence as the neighborhoods around it (Greenwood, Wallingford, U District, Fremont, Ballard), and what it does have isn't as centralized, it's just kind of along Phinney Ave. The only thing I don't like about the area is how hilly it is, which makes it a pain for biking. LOL

Timid, I used to live on 78th, one block west of Greenwood Ave, near Gorgeous George's and Makeda. To me, Phinney Ridge and Greenwood just blend into each other these days. My buddy visited from the UK, we did a pub crawl all the way from the Park Pub at 61st to the Baranoff on 87th, lots of good spots in there. He said the propensity of pubs/cafes actually reminded him of his town of Eastbourne in East Sussex.
