“In the Puget Sound region, there are two types of people who see a forecast like this week’s: Those who groan at indefinite predictions of rain, rain and more rain — and those filled with utter glee at what it means for the mountain snowpack and impending ski season.

After a “break day” Wednesday with little precipitation, expect widespread rain to set up camp above us on Thursday, said meteorologist Maddie Kristell of the National Weather Service in Seattle.

Friday could bring a weather system that dumps up to 40 inches of snow at Paradise and ushers in the strongest winds of the season so far with gusts up to 45 mph, she said.

The impact of that system will depend on whether it heads north, which would brings the strongest winds to Western Washington, or veers south, in which case it would become “more of Oregon’s problem,” Kristell said”.

I haven't heard much about pandemic safety precautions at the ski slopes. Perhaps it's considered fairly safe, as long as people don't gather indoors?

Yeah shae, sounds pretty doable. I just bought a 4 day “powder pack” for my daughter and me at Stevens Pass. I’m gonna feel out the vibe before I commit to a whole season. They of course talk about improved sanitation, I was also impressed that you have to have a reservation booked in advance to ski. I bet they are limiting access to 50 percent of normal capacity or less, limiting indoor eating/gathering too. I’m pumped, snow’s coming.

We drove through Snoqualmie Pass today (twice) and it was beautiful with fresh snow...

Blewett Pass was without snow as was Leavenworth.. almost... one of the farthest mountains had a dusting....

I'm happy with the forecast as I'm having carpet installed first thing in the morning. They'll be able to get it done before it turns icky.

Oh, off topic... Leavenworth was pretty busy for a pandemic-infused Wednesday....

If I die of Covid in two weeks it's because of the Christmas store there....
