Kirkland is great, though parts of it like Kingsgate are less great than say Lake Washington Blvd. in Kirkland. Juanita( in Kirkland) is also quite nice.
I'm not sure if you could even buy a shack on Mercer Island for 900,000 dollars, but only because I've never checked out prices there. Mercer Island is another wonderful place.
And Issaquah is pretty spread out..there's quite the variety in terms of lot size, style, etc within your price range. I'm an Issaquah fan.
And don't rule out Bellevue either.

Thanks, Dave, for correcting me -- apparently I was wrong in my estimate. Thanks!

I wonder which Microsoft groups will be moving to that new tower under construction in downtown Bellevue? That will affect the housing choices for at least some Microsofties.

The paper said that 2,000 employees will occupy 25 of 26 floors of the City Center Plaza building, beginning in early 2009.

I don't know the approximate commute time, because my husband works at Amazon, but in the Issaquah Highlands there's a Microsoft bus that picks up near the park and ride and goes straight to MS, so I'm thinking it's not bad. I don't know where the MS main campus is, so I can't even really give an estimate.

V. =)
