Of the 32,000 people who received the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine in a research trial, do you want to guess how many contracted a severe Covid case? One
Still, it would be lousy to be that 1. And notice the statement says only one got a SEVERE case. I don't like the sound of that. How many got moderate cases? How many got mild cases? Why are they getting it at all, if they've been vaccinated? Most people who have had Covid have had mild to moderate cases. So their own immune systems are doing as well as the vaccine does for some?

More info needed.

I believed I already had the virus last March.
I never get sick but most of my coworkers and I were sick as dogs for a good week.
We could not get a test at that time.

There was a strong influx of Chinese and other commuters to this project and it was eventually shut down.

So I’m ok and I will patiently wait for my turn to get this vaccination when it is my turn after I use you all as my personal guinea pigs .

I'm not a Branch Covidian. I'll only get it if my girls ask me too and they really don't care.

Got my first dose (Moderna) at Northwest on 1/25, appointment for second dose is on 3/6. I was a little woozy for about 20 minutes after the shot and my arm was a little sore for a couple hours. No other symptoms or side-effects.

Whatever risk associated with the vaccine is minuscule compared to catching the virus. Get vaccinated as soon as you can.

I'm hesitant because I have major anxiety when it comes to needles, shots, blood draws, etc. I don't think I'll be able to get a vaccine unless my doctor lets me take a valium first and I'm not sure if that's a good idea.

I'm way down the totem pole for my turn, anyways.

I went to WA State Health Phase Finder to sign on the day it went active. I'm HR Director for a company in the "essential workforce" so will be eligible April along with most of our workers. We do have some workers that are eligible earlier so we've publicly posted information (multi-language) and addressed at meetings. I'm also talking with a private organization who have a vaccination service that works with our industry.

same the one shot would be best

We need to know the counterfactual, though. Back-of-the-envelope calculation:

Total US cases: 27.4 million. Looking at the daily graphs, the slope really started picking up around March 20, so that's over 328 days. Average case count per day: 85,356. Rates are a bit higher now from the holiday peak, but I'll stick with that number.

Average case count per week: 597,492. Average per month (30 days): 2,560,680.

US population, 2021: 331.42 million. So if you're an average person in the US, you have a 0.18% chance of getting COVID each week, or a 0.77% chance each month.

1 out of 32,000 people in the trial got a severe COVID case. According to Google about 14% of all COVID cases are severe, so let's say 7 out of those 32,000 got COVID. That's a 0.02% chance during the study period.

I don't know how long this vaccine trial was, so I'll say 6 months. Over that same timeframe, about 13,700,000 Americans would get COVID, or a 4.1% chance of an average American getting COVID.

Of course, you can still take heavy precautions if you're not getting the vaccine and drastically reduce your chances. But you'd have to be 205 times more careful than the average American (and that's including many other Americans who are taking those same heavy precautions) to have a lower COVID risk than someone getting the vaccine. For people who don't have immunodeficiencies that keep them from getting the vaccine, it really seems like an obvious choice.

If you or family members qualify, here's a sign up for tomorrow for Moderna in Monroe at the Evergreen Fairgrounds:

Wow, this is like watching concert tickets disappear.
