Not here in WA, I would say. I wouldn't be surprised to see a correlation between mask wearing compliance and present day political alignment.

I see massive amounts of people still all by themselves in deserted neighborhood streets with a mask on, I don't wear one, often the walker with the mask coming my way will walk to the opposite side of the street to avoid me.

I do believe its political alignment. We have a lot of liberals here, who need to virtue signal that its not safe, won't be safe maybe forever.

Look at the timing of New Jersey's deaths vs Texas. The bulk of New Jersey's deaths occurred in April of 2020, when the pandemic was still brand new and mortality rates were very high, and at no time later did deaths approach anything like the April 2020 peak. In contrast, Texas' first surge in deaths came months later, in August of 2020 when patient treatment had already improved dramatically, and was followed by an even larger surge of deaths peaking in January 2021.

What does that tell you? New Jersey's death rate is largely the result of unlucky timing, being one of the very first regions hit before the advances in patient treatment. Clearly the leadership in New Jersey stepped up and did something right to quickly bring down their numbers and then keep deaths fairly low after the initial terrible surge.

The greater number of deaths in Texas are a direct consequence of its so-called 'leaders' utterly wasting months of advance warning and failing to promote even the most basic of public health measures.

Yea, that total weirdo wearing a mask and social distancing during a pandemic, and being courteous enough to give you space on a quiet street. And protecting themselves from a person who can't even be bothered to put on a mask in public. They're the issue, here!

I'm chuckling at the inherent contradiction of "massive amounts of people all by themselves in deserted neighborhood streets..."

Well that would be a false interpretation. I do that to avoid the cloud of aerosols that people like you leave hanging in the air. If I wanted to signal, it would be with my middle finger. But I'm too polite to do that.

Why would you wear a mask outside with nobody else around especially when fully vaccinated? This is not even a requirement anymore and was never required outside with nobody around.

I dunno, this thing called respect? Human decency? Have people not heard of that? The fact that there's a deadly virus that's killed millions of people? I mean, why does it matter? Does it hurt you if somebody wears a mask? They have their reasons. I'd certainly walk on a different sidewalk if I saw some of you.

And there was someone around... We don't know if this other person in question was fully vaccinated or not, or maybe they were feeling sick. And they didn't know if this maskless buffoon walking towards them was vaccinated. I don't blame them.

I want a return to normalcy too, that will be great, but it's going to be a new, honestly improved normalcy. Pandemic or not, one thing that should come out of all this- you should wear a mask and social distance if you are feeling ill, so that you don't spread germs. We need to normalize being thoughtful of others.

Honestly this is ridiculous. Respect to who? Nature? There is no common sense in the US anymore. It's both extremes. On one side are those who will never wear a mask or get vaccinated and on the other side the ones that would wear 3 masks alone in their car or on a trail outside when there is nobody around. That kind of thing does not exist anywhere else because it's political.
