I can't believe it's really happening.

Tonight, the Seattle Kraken will have their expansion draft to select their new team.

I'll be watching on ESPN2 tonight at 8 pm EST as your city celebrates from Gas Works Park and from the water, with different Seattle landmarks and local sports icons joining in with 4,000 people!

I've wanted Seattle to get an NHL team since hearing rumors about the possible expansion to there in the 80s....but wasn't there talk even in the 70s during those NHL expansion years also?

I don't live in Seattle, never have. Saw a Thunderbirds game against Tacoma at Key Arena or whatever it was called then on my visit in 1992. Have visited a couple of times, last in 2012, and envision maybe retiring around there. I felt comfortable in the area, and no, haven't really experienced any Seattle Freeze.

So congratulations to Seattle hockey fans, especially those older ones who have been waiting for so long for this special moment today.

And good luck in your 1st season!

Oh well!!! Not my hockey team!
Yes, I'm aware of the history of the Metros name but still don't like it this day and age.

Seattle....metropolitan?
