“Beginning Aug. 9, the Montlake Bridge will be closed for 26 days as crews replace the metal grid deck that has deteriorated over time.

The bridge, which typically carries 60,000 vehicles each day and is a vital connection between eastern parts of Seattle and the University District, will be closed to vehicles until Sept. 3”.

I doubt that it has anything to do with "timing". It is about weather. They want to get it done with as little chance of pouring down rain as possible. August is about as safe as you can plan weather ahead for.

Guess it’s better now when more people are working from home. You are right though, we are blessed and cursed by water and topography in this area.
