I know a very kind and honest elderly person that has several debilitating and painful injuries that have gone untreated or that have even been made worse after visiting various doctors. The problem is, the doctors they have been to have outright mistreated this person often to the highest degree, including at one point telling them their torn ligament was't torn when it in fact was severely torn and the doctor himself was looking at an image of it right next to the radiologist's notes also stating it was severely torn, etc.

Various doctors have written things in their file that they did not say, had them undergo many expensive "treatments" which we later learned were unnecessary and not even related to their specific injuries, etc., along with also failing to tell them about various injuries discovered during tests.

Is there a doctor in or around Seattle that is kind, honest, and capable who also accepts Medicaid? Bonus if on the Eastside.

I'd ask for a malpractice lawyer as well but apparently they only take easy cases and "unless the doctor cut off the wrong body part, killed you, or paralyzed you, you will never find a medical malpractice lawyer."

OMG, you're in needle-in-a-haystack territory! I lived in Seattle for decades, and never found a good doctor who took my concerns seriously, UNTIL I found a great doc who didn't take insurance! Thats what it takes often (unless you're very lucky) to get attentive medical care in America. My insurance, which for a long time was through the UW employee system, and some of the time was self-pay, did me no good at all, except for paying for cursory annual exams.

How did you/he find out, that the treatments were unrelated to the injury they were supposed to be treating, or were unnecessary? It sounds like at some point, the patient was able to get some form of medical review or an opinion on his ordeal...? Perhaps through a friend or other contact?

I'm sorry he's been through this. I'm afraid I can't be of much help, except to commiserate. The system seems to be set up to deny patients needing help. In fact, someone here on C-D told me, that the insurance system back in the 80's issued orders to primary care docs to limit as much as possible referrals to specialists, and to limit expensive testing, to keep costs low. People who can afford it pay out of pocket 100% for their medical care, to get good care. In WA, this means paying for all testing, as well. In some states, insurance does pay for testing that off-insurance doctors order.

Best of luck! Please let us know if you find what you're looking for.

Keep trying . Unfortunately that is the real reality of medicaid in the United States ,what you just related is all too common with medicaid .

I was recently ill for a few years . Like badly ill to the point I could not work and had to go on medicaid. It turned out that I had been made ill by a drug a medicaid dr gave me for something else and I was just dismissed with "anxiety". I had so much stuff ( unnecessary tests /procedures that they could bill to the state) done to me by medicaid drs and said ABOUT me by medicaid drs ( like your friend - the medical gossip was defamatory and now makes it hard to get treated at all ) during this time that I am pretty sure I will be classified as a lunatic from now on .

Medicaid is of almost no use in the states . The US doesn't care about anyone on medicaid and that was a hard lesson for me . The care is substandard to say the least . Keep trying , over and over until you finally find a Dr , NP or clinic that will take your concerns seriously . I am back in LA now but its the same everywhere with medicaid . It shouldn't be but it is . Your not paying or ABLE to pay full fair so take this pill and get out - I have a terrible fear of drs now that I never had before due to my treatment on medicaid . I was yelled at several times , accused of being on street drugs , really spoken to like trash many times in front of others.

The treatment I get on Medicaid Vs BCBS is night and day . It shouldnt be that way . Everyone deserves to live or to try to live .

Well, my insurance has always been BCBS, in Seattle and in New Mexico. It didn't do me any good anywhere, until I finally found a good doctor in NM, but that took me years of trying different primary care docs. In NM, Urgent Care facilities refused to take BCBS, in fact. They said, not only do they reimburse at a miserly level, it takes months to wrestle the payment out of them.

Anyway, I wish the OP luck. He'll need it.

I hope you're doing better now, DCP. There's nothing worse than being seriously ill, and no one can or will treat you, or even listen to you.

I do some shopping in Asian town, there are doctors who take Medicaid,i think most do,some are pretty good and speak fluent English,if he can find a caring one.
A friend of mine is diabetic and takes 13 medications daily, the doctor looked at the list and told him he could cut the list in half if he only exercise, watch his diet.
