Well, it’s time for my Spring deep cleaning and I have several area rug that are about 8’x12’ that are in need of a good deep cleaning. Previously, I rented a pretty good carpet shampoo machine and it only did a So-So job on them. The really negative downside was have damp rugs on a wood floor.

These are not Persian rugs or anything of any great value, but their design are very modern and fit well within my decor tastes of abstract artwork and clean lines.

Hopefully, there are businesses that can do this in the Seattle/Tacoma area.

Anyway!! Thanks for any recommendations!!

I called Coit about ten years ago. They cleaned the aftermarket carpet in my condo. First time they did it wrong. I complained and they then did it right. Not sure if Coit is better or worse than anyone else, truth to tell. AND that carpet (Stainmaster) was high quality and cleaned up great. Ironic it took me selling the place to do that, thus all the furniture removed.

I think the below will not serve your purposes, but mentioning anyway. January 2021 I bought a Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Clean Pet Pro Full-Size Carpet Cleaner. Boy, lot of adverbs and adjectives! It works okay and cleans up my pet stain problems on mid-grade carpet. Most of my house has bamboo flooring but the carpet attracts (bad stuff).

But to your point it doesn't do a bang-up job, just okay. I have three area rugs I like and it does extract gunk well enough. I use the Bissell every 3-4 months and amazing all the stuff picked up. In fact will probably do that today, it's time given spring fast approaches. Yes moist carpets/rugs are a bummer but doesn't leave a ton of residual liquid behind either.

You can still take your carpets to places that wash Persian carpets. They'll do a good job. It's not cheap, but they'll get the job done expertly.

Any place that cleans Persian rugs, and any regular truck mounted carpet cleaner, as long as you have a place to lay your area rugs out so they can clean them. Occasionally a carpet cleaner will have a place with a driveway where you can take the rugs to him and he will do them at his place.

I've taken Persian rugs to be cleaned and repaired and didn't find the price to be too outrageous, considering the work and the specialized machinery they use. (sorry, not in Seattle).

If you are handy, you can lay the carpet out on the driveway and run the vacuum over it many times. That will beat some of the dirt out underneath, to be swept away. Then hang the rug over a sturdy fence and use a pressure washer with soap attachment to clean it, top to bottom, chasing eh dirt downward. I use Orvus wa paste soap. Rinse well. Leave to dry.

After you have cleaned a few rugs by yourself, you will decide it is worth the money to pay to have it done.

I saw a real interesting video on YouTube that showed how they cleaned area rugs.
Pretty darn interesting.
Maybe if you looked a vid or 2 you could learn what questions to ask.
Good luck.

If you still remember the video, post it here! I wouldn’t mind taking a look at it.

trick is, is not to let the dirt work deeper into the carpet and imbed in the fibers. Vacuum often.

I was referred to this guy a number of years ago and he has worked wonders for some of my clients before I listed their homes. He seems to be able to clean any rug, honest and reasonably priced: Faraz 206-304-9545.
