Do Amazon or their executives own the apartments and businesses in downtown Seattle?

I can’t think of any benefit by packing 40,000+ engineers in downtown Seattle, except these people can generate great revenue for businesses in downtown, which will be good for the owners.

No, they set up in Seattle for other reasons:

Seattle was known as a technology center, with Microsoft, Boeing and others in the area

With the comparatively small state population, fewer need to collect sales tax on sales

The younger tech workers at the time like the urban environment so could be more easily attracted to the jobs

The University of Washington cranks out plenty of graduates every year, and their programs are good

Lots of nearby distribution centers such as the warehouse district in Kent, WA and they just opened a new one in Arlington, WA that will generate 1,000 more jobs.

Sure, many own places in Downtown Seattle-Belltown or closeby neighborhoods of Queen Anne, Capitol Hill, Madison Park.

Amazon execs own apartment buildings there? They're landlords to their own employees and others?

Sorry, my mistake. I thought OP was asking if any of the high level people live near Amazon itself?
