I've accepted a job in Puyallup(east of Tacoma). My wife and I will be moving from the east coast. We would like to live in or close to Seattle. Can someone please recommend a good neighborhood? We will be renting and my wife would like a place with a decent view.

Seattle to Puyallup will be a wallop of a commute! an hour plus plus each way!

Expect rental prices in Seattle to be pretty high. Is there a reason why she wants Seattle? There are some great areas around the Puyallup area that are pretty with views of Mt. Rainier and the cascade range.

thx for the input. We wanted to live close to seattle, since she will have better mid level job opportunities and we wanted to live close to a metro area(other than Tacoma).

well, I would recommend that you look at rental properties in Beacon Hill or south edge of Capitol hill. This gets you on the south side of downtown, but still very close to the city.

After you get here, take some day trips to other areas and see what is out there. That is the best way to see what the best balance is. You can also consider Des Moines, still close to city, but a lot closer to Puyallup.

Hi Rajman, I work as a Realtor and can tell you that the commute from Seattle to Puyallup is significant. I wouldn't want to do that every day and would strongly suggest that you think about how much time you're willing to spend on the road in bumper-to-bumper traffic going north and south. If you'll be working off-hours you could have an easier commute. Really, I would suggest looking for a home closer to Puyallup. Do some investigation on communities near the water. Your rents will be lower near Puyallup, too. Hope that helps a little bit. http://www.cbbain.com/denicerochelle
