Hi all--

We're getting ready for our "exploratory" Seattle trip in a week and I'm trying to line up some apartments/apartment brokers to look at and talk with. But... on Craigslist and NWSource, very very few listings have pictures. And if they do have pictures, it's of the view or a closet. This is not just recently either, but something I've noticed since I started looking months ago. Wtf? Why don't Seattlites post pictures too?

Can someone reccomend a good place for Seattle apartment listings that have pictures?

We rented our apt. off craigslist (love it), I found a job on craigslist (hated it), everybody does everything on craigslist. BUT, there are crackpots, scammers, and morons who post there.

Here's my take on craigslist housing:

It the property ad lacks pics--blow it off immediately. That's a bad sign. Usually if there is no pic you're dealing with a Nigerian scammer or a property so disreputable they're ashamed to post pictures. You don't want to live there anyway. 100% of the time.

No contact phone number or email address--blow it off immediately. You'll spend days trying to hunt these morons down and you need a place to live NOW. If they're not bright enough to post good contact information, they are not people you want to do business with anyway. People who leave no contact info and all you can do is send an email to the craigslist admail--total waste of your time. Forget about it.

Housing in Seattle goes fast. When you go through the ads and you now can disregard all the dimwits who provided no contact info and the slumlords who didn't post pics, this leaves you with about a remaining 40% of ads with photos and contact information. These are worthwhile. Still plenty of them to sift through. A lot of rental housing is available for just days, or maybe weeks.

You find something good you've got to get on it right now. No waiting a couple of days before you call them up. Get over there and get moving. Be prepared with job references and housing history, they'll do credit checks and often criminal check for rentals. This all takes time and meanwhile somebody else just beat you to the best apartment in Seattle.

It really is very competative. No time to waste fooling around with blind ads.

Thanks for the suggestions, azoria. If you've had good experiences with any Seattle services or brokers, I'd really love some reccomendations.
