Does anybody have a recommendation on where to run a 16 mile run on a Sat in Seattle? I will be in Seattle for a few days before I join up with my hiking group to go to the Northern Cascades and need to get in a 16 mile run for my marathon training. A friend suggested I stay in Downtown (as of yet though I have not booked a hotel).

Also, if anybody has any off the beaten path suggestions for a 34 yr old female (stressed-out New Yorker) to do on her own while visitng, let me know. I am busy searching these boards, etc...but if anything non-touristy comes to mind, pls let me know! Prefer being outdoors! I will have 2.5 full days there on my own (7/31-8/2).

Thanks!

If nothing else, you could do five laps around Green Lake. That's a rather well-beaten path, though.

Will you have a car available to you? The yes or no changes your options as a visitor.

The Burke-Gilman Trail is a beautiful, much-used and much-loved wonderland for runners and bikers:

For something really different and kind of magical, if you'd like to participate in a Native American experience in Seattle, take a look at this, Tillicum Village:
Seattle Attraction | Tillicum Village & Tours | Seattle, Washington | One of Seattle's Top Attractions | Home of Seattle's World Famous Salmon
A boat takes you on a lovely fairly short ride from a pier in downtown Seattle across Puget Sound, to small Blake Island for a Native American show and huge, delicious lunch, with free time to walk around and see wildlife, and then the boat takes you back to Seattle. It's a terrific and unique experience!

Pike Place Market is in downtown Seattle and is one of the granddaddies of farmer's markets. From there you can go to the Aquarium, watch the ships in Elliott Bay, and eat at great restaurants.

Want to go to Mt. Rainier? You can drive there, or let Gray Line take you for an all-day tour. See the countryside. Get up on the mountain near 6,000 feet, where it's VERY COLD and there's still snow. http://www.grayline.com/Grayline/des.../us/seattle.go

Wine tasting interest you? We have amazing vineyards right near Seattle.

To find comparisons of hotels, have you checked TripAdvisor dot com? Real travelers report on their real experiences:
