No, I just think it's mega stupid that people would drink something that costs $387,000 a drop. Or $100,000 an egg. Or pay $480,000 for a ring that could easily slip off and fall into a sewer. If they're going to pay stupid amounts for these things, what's another $10?

The problem with the idea of taxing the rich is that the rich already pay most the taxes. The poor pay none (no or little income = no federal tax, likely no property tax, probably not much sales tax), and the rich pay the majority of taxes.

Sound weird? Yeah, by hearing people complain you'd think that the poor and middle class pay all the taxes. But the rich (prior to the most recent tax cuts) had to pay nearly 40 cents on the dollar of their income as taxes! A study commissioned by the CBO found that the top 5% of earners pay 1/2 of the total federal tax revenue.

Locally, property taxes also are paid primarily by people who have wealth. Property taxes can easily run $10,000 - $20,000 a year for people who have expensive homes compared to $3,000 a year for people with modest homes. Bill Gates pays over $1,000,000 for taxes each year on his house alone.

So yes, the rich pay the majority of taxes as it is....

There was a story written about this. I can't for the life of me remember it. All I can remember is a guy with great hearing wearing ear muffs....to equal out his hearing with everyone else..and a beautiful girl dancing in chains..to equal her dancing skill with everyone else... and they danced...and they broke the chains...and they were beautiful..

and they were shot to death..for it. Because they were too much above the norm.

Does anyone remember that story? Or something similiar? I can't remember who wrote it.

Hmm... then how just getting them to use money more efficiently. Apparently what costs $15 million somewhere else costs $40 million in WA, or something like that. Then no one gets taxed.

Did you just say government and efficiency? Oh man, that made my sides hurt.

Watch street repairs sometime. 3 men watching. One man digging. That's goverment.

Entitlements are going to kill this country. I think it has already started to.
