Just think what kind of rail system could be in place now if Forward Thrust had been embraced by the people of Seattle 38 years ago. I voted for it back then, did you?

So, bottom line, we have nobody to blame but ourselves. There's been a history of Seattle citzens not wanting to pay for light rail until recently.
Considering that I was only 16 in 1970 I can't say that I voted yes...but certainly would have if I had been eligible.

For being such a "progressive" place we have a pretty dismal record when it comes to mass transit...

The subtle racism of Seattle. Main reason pubic trans is lacking in Seattle is due to Seattles hatred of the poor..
Look, no one hates the poor!!! Come on!!! Someone's gotta make the hamburgers!!!

I'd like to say I protest this by boycotting those malls. But I wouldn't shop there anyways.
The thing is bus service comes to Bellevue from all over the region. The 271 comes from the U District, the 550 comes from dt Seattle and other buses come in from the southend.

I have to say this again, but Bellevue Square is far from upscale.

According to the link below, Sound Transit's East Link light rail line will extend 14 miles from downtown Seattle to the Overlake area in Redmond, with 10 stations in Mercer Island, South Bellevue, downtown Bellevue, BelRed (Bellevue) and Overlake.

So i take it the light rain is not being built yet? When is ground breaking?
Our rail being built is a nightmare, and over budget.
Hope you have better luck then us over here.

Yes, a lot has happened since 2008. There is light rail construction going on in Bellevue and Redmond, and on the I90 freeway and bridge. Like most big projects here it will probably be way over budget and late, but the current target date for completion is 2024.

I believe that ULink was finished under budget and ahead of schedule. Budget overruns are not inevitable, but they can happen due to unforseen factors.

In Japan and a lot of other developed countries, they build fast trains and underground systems in 2 years. In the US and especially Seattle, it takes a lifetime.

Only because Sound Transit kept changing the budget and timetable to fit with reality. Go back to the information provided to the voters originally and see how it sounds. Sit down before you do.
