High enrollment cramps North End elementary schools

Elementary schools in the north end are over capacity. My wife and I have noticed that a lot of the private schools like Perkins, St. Matthews and Christ the King still have signs out saying that they are enrolling. I wonder if a lot of parents have decided to send their kids to public schools because of the economy.

Nope, the overcrowding is the result of changing demographics in the neighborhoods (at least in the Northeast part of town). Many more young families are moving to the neighborhoods and it is estimated that the numbers will continue to grow over the next few years.

We are in the NorthEast cluster for schools. But that's out of cluster for us - we did a waiting list 3 years ago. And got in easily. I doubt we could do that now-a-days

Interesting sidebar, we aren't liking the school in the northeast. So many people are wanting in...and here we are wanting out.
