U.S. News and World Report this week cites the "urban village" of Issaquah Highlands as one of the country's top 10 places for healthy retirement!

The article cites many and varied reasons, from pedestrian-friendly development to a sense of community.

Regarding demographics:
"About 10 percent of the city's 26,000 people are over the age of 65 ... The bulk of the population is between 20 and 64, and families are attracted to good schools in the area..."

My hometown is one of the healthiest cities?

Makes enough sense to me, except for the lack of Vitamin D that can lead to heart disease. I can see it being a great place for senior citizens, but it lacks something for us whipper-snappers. :P

The Highlands (where I live), will be a lot more pedestrian friendly if they ever finish the commercial development up here.
