West Seattle is really nice. But a nice house, large enough in a nice part of West Seattle will likely cost more than 350...But West Seattle prices are coming down.

I seen large townhomes on the West side from around 350k. Unless youare on the hill (not sure of the formal name) neighborhood, then I think the hwole area is pretty ghetto. Burien and Whitecenter are nearby and if you can survive with places like that near your home/kids/wife, then West SEattle may not be bad.

I prefer the East Side (Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond), as it's far safer feeling and better class of people I think.

Good luck on your move.

In West Seattle, in neighborhoods like the Admiral District, the Alaska Junction, or the Alki area, NOBODY is worried because they're within a couple of miles of Burien....And there are some very nice areas within Burien itself, and the people who live there aren't worried about their survival....
I'm assuming that the OP wants something that's at least 3 bedrooms as they have an eleven and a fourteen year old AND want a place for under 350...How many places in Bellevue and Redmond fit that bill?
How about none or very few?
Also, labeling a whole area isn't fair, especially if you are not extremely familiar with it. people here label the eastside folks as "rich snobs" and people from everywhere south of downtown Seattle as "ghetto"...Fact of the matter is..the crime rate in Ballard is far worse than that of Burien....and I'm not suggesting Burien, as the school district isn't very good, but there are good schools and school districts in the Seattle area that aren't in the more expensive areas.
