I'm writing a book and my research is getting bogged down. I need some fresh ideas. Basically, I'm writing about what to do if your Seattle area job disappears and you are in an industry where there simply aren't any jobs right now. So I'm looking for examples of "survival jobs" someone can do where the job doesn't require experience, education, or a big start up cost.

Does anyone have experience with a "survival job" like this? Or suggestions for me?

I didn't post in Work and Employment because I'm only interested in Seattle job possibilities.

P.S. If you send me work-from-home MLM opportunities, I would have some tough questions to ask you, like the percentage of new recruits who earn a solid income within one year. So far my research on those is leading me to believe they aren't good possibilities for most people.

Work at Mickey D's for 8 hours, then work at Domino's delivering pizza for 8 hours.

I've worked as a janitor (for 10 cents more than minimum wage) from 7 -3 and at Hardee's from 4-12 before.

Heh. You do what you have to do.

Define what you consider a "solid job".

BTW... Didn't do it in Seattle. Did it in another town for a little more than a year, then I joined the Air Force at 18... Yeah, I graduated when I was 17. Not many good jobs for 17 year olds. Turned 19 in basic training. Woohoo.

I didn't say "solid job," I said "solid income." Meaning some profit and enough money to make it worth doing (minimum wage or above). Many of the MLM type opportunities I've investigated have a really poor track record where the majority of recruits don't even earn back start up costs.

I spent a few hours doing research and I'm farther along than I was when I posted the inquiry, but it is still interesting to hear what people have done to earn quick cash when their rent or mortgage payment is due and they need to put food on the table.
