Take the Pali instead. Then it's only 2 hours and 20 minutes .

THANK YOU! As a former resident of southern California for 17 years, traffic in Seattle can be annoying, but in NO WAY can you compare it to the traffic of L.A. I am so tired of listening to people complain about the traffic in Seattle who say how it's "the worst in the country" or "as bad as LA" or worse than blah blah blah, ad nauseum.

Try a daily commute of 60 miles on the 10 or 405 in LA and then come talk to me about "traffic" in Seattle.

Well yes, I have visited Miami. I was thinking of how easy it would be to bike in such flat terrain.

And I can beat your friend - I was clipped by a car in Seattle the first week of my bike commute. But I didn't stop until I moved south. My new commute passes through a trucking/industrial area and I don't feel safe biking to work here (DH forbids it) so I do get what you are saying about an area's relative safety.

I've driven in LA and know what you mean.

I wonder how many of the complaints about "Seattle traffic" really refer to I-405 and the East Side commutes -- in my opinion, 405 here much worse than I-5, which usually isn't so bad.
