..and like most other places in the Seattle area, SeaTac is not entirely bad. It's not all scuzzy, gang and drug infested. There are parts of SeaTac that are safe and quiet. That's the difference between the so called " bad" neighborhoods on the east coast and bad neighborhoods here. On the east coast, there are places where block after block after block after block are nothing but decrepit dangerous streets.
Absolutely, there are parts of Sea-Tac to avoid, but like almost every single other neighborhood in the Seattle area that people tell you to avoid, there are pleasant and safe parts.

Pretty good TV show. Oh, did you mean the neighborhood? It depends. south Park is generally considered one of the Seattle area's "worst" neighborhoods, but that doesn't mean that it's especially high crime or unsafe. The median household income in South Park is lower than in most of Seattle. There's nothing fancy or especially hip in South Park. There's fair amount of nearby industry and that has affected the soil. The housing stock is not the greatest quality for the most part. South Park may have the highest percentage in Seattle of people born outside the US. The bridge heading into Seattle is dangerous, in danger of collapsing, and nobody wants to fund it.
What's good about South Park? It's cheap, it's funky, it's got the best Mexican food in Seattle, it has an awesome second hand building materials store, and it has a marina, and the polluted but kind of pretty Duwamish River. it's also a matter of where you are in your life. When I first moved to Seattle 33 years ago, I lived in Southwest Capitol Hill. It was kind of scuzzy, there were drunks passed out in doorways, and I loved it. I'm older now and have less tolerance for that kind of stuff. Likewise, I wouldn't live in South Park, but it has gotten better in the last ten years. Crime stats suggest that South Park is not an especially dangerous area. Nearby White Center feels to me like it has a little more vitality and fun, with excellent Mexican food as well as a homemade ice cream place and a microbrewery.

Thank you, Ira. It seems like they're building some new houses there, which is why I asked. I figured it was at the very least industrial in that area.

The TV show isn't bad either... ;-)
