I completely agree with azoria and was planning on posting the same. If you don't think you are staying in the area beyond 5 years, it may not be worth it to buy. Run the numbers and you will see it would be hard to make that a good financial decision. But obviously it can be an emotional decision as well...and 5 years is a long time from now. You may feel differently about leaving. I said I was never leaving TX...and hmmm, here I am. Never say never was what I learned.

Veronika - are you prgnant with number two????

HMMM, I guess I'd pick Everett. You can always drive down the 5 a bit and catch a bus at a park and ride.

We are looking at condos too, but each time notice there aren't any children around And I was looking forward to no yard, but I guess we really should have one til the kids are older

I have a similar dilema, except I DON'T KNOW where I'm going to work as I work from home now. My choices are northwest Bothell (almost Alderwood area) or Duvall. For about the same money I can get a 1994 built 1600 sqft house in Duvall with a long steep driveway, or a 2009 built 2200sqft house in Bothell with a flat short driveway. I might work in Seattle or Redmond or Bellevue eventually, though I'd prefer Eastside. So all other things being equal, which house do I buy??

ElektroDragon,
DO you feel better in one house or one neighborhood over the other? Do you need 2200 square feet?
Some houses that are smaller are designed in such a way that the space is utilized better and it seems more roomy...
Long steep driveway will mean you'll possibly get stuck on snow days, but also infers that the house is set back from the street and is more private, and those 2 AM drum solos might be more acceptable in a more private setting.
Given my druthers, I'd personally probably pick Duvall just because it's in Duvall, an actual old town with character. A lot of places around here lack that, but it's also not something that everybody wants.
