In my middle school we had "Flying saucers." That's a slice of bologna, with a scoop of mashed potatoes on top, with a slice of yellow cheese on top of that, then gently seared in a sweltering oven, until the cheese melts and gets all gooey. Then placed in an nice warm pan, where the cheese turns hard as a rock, yet the bottom was somewhat warm. You ate it. And you were glad you had it.

My son gets to choose what he gets at his school. Choose! What is this choice you speak of? I have heard of it, yet I did not get it. We got "Chicken fried with no flour/seasoning with delicious pockets of shmaltz in the skin" and "Pizza with fennel seeds." which means Pizza that tastes like black licorice. And, I really hate black licorice.

Ah, but that was back when people had AM radios in their cars, and 8 track stereos the size of a medium-sized walrus in their living room. Some of those radios were about 8 -10 feet long..and also had a built in turntable AND stereo tuner. With 15 X 4 watts of incredible sound pumping from those paper cones, you could rock with the Eagles, Shaun Cassidy or some good ol' Johnny Cash.

Now kids have Iphones and electric scooters. You think I'm kidding. My son knows a kid with an Iphone. Because, hey...every kid needs an Iphone. Wonder if he has a Blackberry as well...in case he has to toss some deals down with his contact in Asia during 5th period, or something.

...and blonde school teachers that look like models from the cover of Maxim magazine who every few months make the news for having sexual affairs with the high school boys. Yes, times have definitely changed.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane, now what was this actually about, again?

Times have changed, the country is in economic crisis, and yes some of those people running the country planned so poorly (and greedily) that everyone has to pay. People in all states are struggling to adjust. Heck, Florida is still trying to pass its budget and is overdue on the constitutional deadline.

Aside from sarcastically complaining, what did you say you were doing about it? Or did I miss that?
