Hi all -

We're considering relocating to Seattle and hope to enroll our son in a Waldorf school. I'm trying to figure out if either of the two of the Waldorf Grade School campuses are located in a safe, family-friendly, walkable neighborhood. As far as I can tell, the two Waldorf grade schools are located at these addresses:

1501 10th Ave E.
2728 NE 100th Street

I'm having trouble finding info about the neighborhoods where those addresses are. Any thoughts? Are there any other Waldorf schools I'm missing, within striking distance, that are located in walkable neighborhoods?

We might also consider Montessori elementary schools, although that really depends a lot on the nature of the particular Montessori. In any case, anyone know of a Montessori grade school in a walkable neighborhood?

By walkable I mean: safe; sidewalks; walk to grocery stores, cafes, library, rec centers, etc.

Thanks!

The Waldorf School on 10th Avenue East is North Capitol Hill, a fabulous but expensive neighborhood, the one on NE 100th is in the Meadowbrook neighborhood, a more suburban area with a community center and a pool.

I know this is an old post but where did you guys end up settling and did your kids go to Waldorf? Our daughter went all the way through at Bright Water Waldorf on Capitol Hill (when it was there) and now is an 11th grader at Seattle Waldorf High School at Magnuson Park in NE Seattle.
