When we arrive in July we plan on being in the area for 9 days. Typically, we will stay a few days, drive to another tourist site, find a new hotel and so on.

I honestly don't know about hotels in the area, but your itinerary will require staying at several different locations in Western Washington.
I just found the official Washington State tourism site, which should give you an idea of the areas that you're looking at.

That part of Belltown isn't bad. 5th Avenue is nice. Just avoid 1st thru 3rd Ave's.
