I'm taking Amtrak from Union Station tomorrow and Im coming south on the bus tunnel to get there. I was thinking of getting off at Chinatown but if I can remember right you have to go around like 5 blocks and down a hill into the station even though its only like 300 feet away. Would Pioneer Square station be quicker?

I would think Pioneer Square station would be way closer....The Pioneer Square station is at 4th and cherry, which I think is only one or two blocks away from Union Station.

Doesn't Amtrak stop through King Street Station, not Union? In any case, I'm pretty Chinatown/ID is closer. Pioneer Sq. is on 3rd and James. The ID Station is on 5th and Jackson, right next to Union and like a block east of King St. Station.

Yes, Amtrak operates out of King Street Station, next door to Union Station. There hasn't been passenger service from Union Station since 1971. It was remodeled into a reception hall and offices in the 90's.

Metro designates the Internation District Tunnel Station as the Amtrak stop.

As noted, King St. Station is the Amtrak station in Seattle.
All Metro and Sound Transit vehicles using the tunnel will stop at the Internation District station in the transit tunnel (Seattle doesn't actually have any area called 'Chinatown'; our closest equivalent is called the International District).

Here's the Metro transit tunnel map to show you the closeness of King Street Station and the transit tunnel's International District station:

Exit the bus tunnel at the south end of the International District station, and cross over the Weller Street pedestrian overpass.

Ahh okay that sounds good.

I've lived here for a long time and can't get King St and Union Station straight.
