Kirkland has a couple of areas that are slightly less than desirable ( (Totem lake and Kingsgate) but also has some very nice areas, and much of Issaquah is really nice with great hiking nearby.
Hi Ira, I'm looking at Kirkland. Would you tell me what areas in Kirkland are slightly less than desirable? Thanks a lot for your help.

I don't think any part of Kirkland is dangerous, but Kingsgate has lots of traffic and lower end older apartment buildings, and Totem Lake has lots of traffic and strip malls, though it does have a Trader Joe's. Maybe a nice place to shop but not necessarily live?
Downtown Kirkland, Juanita, Bridle Trails and Rose Hill are a few good areas.

Downtown Kirkland is a really nice place, especially in the summer, but it's not quiet. Lots of bars and the crowd is usually college age. Walking up and down the Kirkland waterfront is awesome and lots of people like to cruise that strip in fancy cars. If you don't mind all the noise then stay right in downtown but if you want it a little more quiet I would stay at least 3-4 blocks away. Downtown Bellevue is nice and lots to do too but no Lake Washington unless you want to walk a long way.
