My cousin wants to go to Westlake Center in Seattle. Is it safe there? Is that the area where the Cheescake Factory & Gameworks is? I am so confussed as to what those two areas are called?

Cheesecake Factory and Gameworks are a block or two east of Westlake Center, closer to or part of Pacific Place...I think the area is safe, but if your cousin is nine years old and wants to head down there after dark, then I'd have second thoughts.

I used to work in Westlake Center, and later, while working elsewhere in downtown, went to the food court upstairs in Westlake Center (good fresh-pretzel shop there that I still go to every time I'm in the area), a dentist in the Medical Dental Bldg., See's Candies at Westlake Park, the kitchen store across 4th, and The Bon/Macy's. That's all at Westlake Center. It's all fine. I wouldn't hesitate to go there, and I'm not quite nine yet.

Doesn't matter. No matter what the name of the attraction, downtown Seattle is small. You can walk from Pioneer Square through all of downtown Seattle to the Discovery Center on the other end of town, in 25 or 30 minutes.

Downtown Seattle is wider east-to-west but only eight or ten blocks north-to-south. Seattle is not a big city. If you're looking for some attraction in particular, you'll always be only a few blocks away no matter how far off track you think you've gone.
