Looking at a few hotels in North Seattle... what is the neighborhood like? Is it easy to get downtown?

Thanks

When it comes to hotels on Aurora Avenue, look elsewhere!!! While I bet there are some good hotels on that strip, most of them are marred by prostitution and drugs.

Perhaps in 1989. The area has been cleaned up quite a bit. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express near 135th and Aurora for multiple days this summer to help with some family business, and I didn't see one person looking for my "business". It was completely fine. In fact, even the worst motels on the Aurora strip have either been nicely remodeled or closed down completely. And yes, major bus route to downtown straight down.

If youre staying for pleasure, I would recommend against it. Aurora is one of Seattle's ugliest, least pedestrian friendly, least interesting, most "sprawly" streets. Its a straight shot to downtown, but with traffic it can take a while (depending how far up you are)

If its strictly for business, you might find some decent options up past 125th. But stay away from the area near 85th and Aurora.

Overall, its an area I would not suggest by any means.

If youre looking for budget, try the Eighth Avenue Inn or the Sixth Avenue Inn. Decent rooms (and affordable) right by downtown. Also a couple of decent options in the University District and Queen Anne.

Thanks everyone. We decided against Aurora & found a hotel in Belltown for pretty cheap. They charge 10 bux a day for parking but im sure we'd pay that in gas/parking coming from Aurora ave anyways.
