Yes.

And this mitigates the damp moldy climate in what way?

what's your problem with Seattle? Seattle has better weather than a lot of US cities but you don't post on their forums how their weather sucks! And to enlighten you, so many rainy days get 0.01" precipitation but they still count as rainy

Nothing, but I could think whatever I want. Seattle is famous is its rainy and chilly dampy weather. Seattle always have more than 0.01" of rain when it rains.

blah, blah blah. Another Seattle weather thread. There is more to life than weather. Some like it, some don't mind it, some hate it. How many threads can we possibly do about this? Just askin'.

I love the weather here. I grew up with it and I start feeling a little down when it doesn't rain for a long time.

Seattle gets about 38 inches of rain per year, New York City gets about 45 inches of rain per year. New York City also receives about four times the amount of snow that Seattle gets, winters are far colder than Seattle's, and summers are far hotter.
You can read all kinds of weather statistics, but it doesn't make you any kind of expert until you've spent a lot of time there. I grew up in New Jersey, so I think I'm familiar enough to talk about the differences.
It's something of a tradeoff, but when you say " Seattle has miserable weather" you really don't know what you're talking about. New Jersey does see more sunshine during the winter, and that's kind of nice, but it also has those endless hot and sticky, muggy horrible days in the summer, 90 degrees with 90 percent humidity, when it's 72 and sunny in Seattle....And actually, it is kinda nasty here for parts of November, December, and January, but it's more for how early it gets dark than it's coldness. I'd rather be here than in NJ for most months, and would rather spend a winter here than in Maine, or Minnesota, etc.
Honestly, PalmBch, have you ever been to Seattle? Or did you simply google Seattle weather and become a Seattle weather maven?

Bottom line:

If you are from the West Coast, on the ocean, and directly south of Seattle, you'll think the weather in Seattle sucks.

If you're from 99.99999999% of the rest of the country, then the Seattle weather will either be just a trade-off of where you are from, or significantly better.
