We will be relocating to Seattle/ Eastside soon and I was wondering about public transportation. My guess is that it can't be worse than here in California . Is there a map somewhere outlining the different routes? I'm unfamiliar with the area, so looking it up street names seems rather tedious just for getting and idea. Thanks

The eastside and Seattle are served by both King County Metro and by Sound Transit. Both of their websites should have system maps on them. Within Seattle, bus service is pretty good. There's anew light rail system which goes from downtown to the airport, with stops in North beacon Hill, Mt. Baker, Columbia City and other neighborhoods. If you're going to downtown Bellevue, bus service is also pretty good.

Here's the system map of the King county area showing both Metro routes and Sound Transit routes:

System Map of King County showing both Metro and Sound Transit routes (http://metro.kingcounty.gov/tops/bus/area_images/SystemMap.pdf - broken link)

This will give you a description of the service in a specific section of the county and will give both Metro and ST routes serving that section:

Metro Transit Regional Maps

That's exactly what I needed, thanks!
