Or does it seem like a whole lot of people are moving to Seattle?

As of March 2009, the metro area was 100th on a list of fast-growing metro areas, according to the US Census (http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/population/013426.html - broken link) (Table 1 (http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/cb09-45table1.xls - broken link) has the info).

Everyone always complains about this (in Washington and Oregon, anyway), but it beats the opposite - people leaving. A coworker once complained to me about all the people moving to Seattle. She knew I moved there from out of state, but whatever. I grew up in a town that people left (and are still leaving - population is down 3% since 2000). I'd love to be able to live in my hometown, but there aren't any jobs there, even in a good year.

BTW, I don't live in the Seattle area as of last month. I wish I did, though. It's a great city. If residents want people to stop moving there, they should make it a bad place to live.

Actually I wasn't complaining. I was merely observing.

Oh, I know you weren't. Sorry if I made it seem like you were.

I don't think it's you, but I can't wait to move there within a year! I'm heading out in March to do some networking, and once I graduate from grad school (hopefully in December) we'll be moving there permanently. I'll probably start looking for a job in late summer/early fall.

Both my partner and I love the area. We both love the scenery, proximity to ocean, and all the outdoor options in the area. I also like the fact that it's a bigger city than where we are now (Columbus, Ohio) and has much more to offer. It's very liberal, which fits perfectly into our lives, and it's green (partner just got a Prius!). It's also green, as in color.

The weather is by far better than Columbus's. I can't wait to get out there! I can't wait to explore the city further in March.

mea-oh, I have lived a few cool places in my life (Denver, Austin among them) and Seattle is probably my favorite overall, though they all have great things about them. Above all my likes/dislikes though, the natural beauty here has just grabbed a hold of my heart like no other place. You will still hear an audible gasp in our car as we drive toward a view of Rainier or the Olympics. It is just breathtaking. And each and every day, I feel thankful to live here. Hopefully you will enjoy it too!
