I have been living abroad for the last 6 years. I currently have a science teaching position in Thailand. I am both a Secondary coordinator and a Science Coordinator at a private bilingual school. My duties have been science teacher for the equivalent of a 7th and 9th grade students, I run and manage secondary teachers and students, write and check science examinations, observe and train teachers for Science English and Maths, write curriculum for primary to secondary science education based of Thai curriculum and manage laboratory materials from 1st-9th grade science education.

I am coming back to the US in April and would like to continue teaching science. I have 3 years of teaching experience however I am not a certified teacher. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biological Oceanography. I know there are programs that exist where you can become a qualified teacher and teach at the same time and I was wondering if there are any such programs available in the Seattle area? If anyone is aware of these programs I would greatly appreciate the help. What are the necessary qualifications needed in the Seattle area and what are some of the more highly qualified institutions for such a request?

Thank you so much for any help you can give!

Unfortunately, this area isn't as desperate for teachers as in other states. In NC, you could teach without a certificate if you had a Masters, and get your certificate as you go. Here in WA, there's a bit more supply than demand, so a lot of schools are taking people with a Masters + certificate.
Certificate requirements are here: Certification - OSPI

A good bet might be to apply to Catholic high schools, who don't require the certification. There are also a good number of alternative schools and tutoring programs which don't require certification. You might also want to look for education coordinator jobs at places like the Pacific Science Center or the Zoo. While you're working, you could go to school to meet the requirements for public schools. City University has programs which are tailored towards people who already have experience and might be working part time while going to school: City University of Seattle - Programs

Alternatively, you can go full time to get a MIT or M.Ed degree at UW, UW Bothell, Seattle University, etc etc.
