Well I think its pretty amazing at least on the craigslist side on how many job posting there are in Seattle compared to other cities.
Im in Philadelphia(I currently work as an Analyst in a data warehousing environment) and I am blown away by the number of job listings in Seattle.
I did a very fast simple survey...I just took the number of job postings in the software/QA/DBA/etc jobs section for the last three days. Thats pretty crazy numbers consider the metro population differences. Jobs growing on trees out there? lol
if the craigslist ad is very vague, and has a ridiculous pay scale it is a scam. Be careful of who you send your information to on there. I've been searching for jobs for 3 weeks now and like 20% of the posts are scams.
A good rule of thumb is if someone actually responds to your job application, it's probably a scam.
Most scam artists will also say they are out of town and want you to pick up packages for them.
Think this will last? My husband and I are both in IT and we want to move to Seattle, but we have to sell our house in the midwest first so we probably won't be able to get out there for another year or two. It's very encouraging to hear the market is so good out there, but I'm afraid we're missing an opportunity by not moving right now. Please tell me this is "the norm" and jobs should be available for years to come
Ha....yes tons of jobs in DC IT but keep in mind alot of these are defense related and require high level security clearance.....if you want a job for life get top secret clearance and keep it...
