SEATTLE -- Seattle police arrested a man who alarmed people downtown Friday morning by walking around with a suspicious device strapped to his body and making threats.
Seattle police responded to numerous calls shortly after 8 a.m. and closed off the area around Third Avenue and James Street near the King County Courthouse.
According to Brian Johnson, director of the men's shelter at the Morrison apartments, a man walked into the shelter around 8:30 a.m., saying he was a vampire and needed food – and food was the people who were at the shelter.

When shelter employees refused to let him in, the man, in his 40s, took off his jacket and showed what appeared to be a pipe bomb. He said he needed help with it and asked the shelter employees for aid. The shelter employees told the man to leave immediately and called 911. The suspect then started running toward the courthouse.A nearby apartment resident, Justin Anderson, said he saw the man walking down the street, pacing in circles, and playing with tape that held a pipe to his arm.
"I was enjoying a leisurely morning," the 29-year-old student said. "Then something more interesting happened."
A Seattle SWAT team quickly arrived at the scene. Members drew and pointed their weapons at the male suspect, ordering him to put his hands behind his head.
"Once we started talking with him, he was compliant," spokesman Mark Jamieson said.
The man laid down on the sidewalk. By 9:15 a.m., Seattle police had the suspect in custody. No injuries were reported.
A police spokesman says a bomb squad is investigating the device, which is a metal pipe with metal endcaps on it. It also has wires protruding from it. A bomb squad was investigating whether it was explosive but Jamieson said it looks "real enough.

Shouldn't this guy have done this in Forks, instead of messing up downtown Seattle traffic?
